Board leadership, advocacy, facilitation, and strategic storytelling in support of San Diego’s unhoused community.

Think Dignity is a San Diego-based nonprofit advancing basic dignity for people experiencing homelessness. Since joining the organization in 2023, I have supported its mission through board leadership, strategic communications, public facilitation, and program design. My contributions span campaigns that reimagine public safety, advocate for equitable access to services, and amplify the lived experiences of unhoused San Diegans.

Strategic Communications & Fundraising

Designing campaigns that inspire action, deepen engagement, and center dignity.

In my role as Communications Chair on Think Dignity’s Board of Directors, I’ve led the strategy and execution of key fundraising and awareness campaigns. Each initiative reflects a unique approach to storytelling, donor engagement, and mission alignment—bridging grassroots energy with polished public-facing content.

Dink for Dignity

A 48-player pickleball tournament hosted in Coronado, CA, designed to engage new donor demographics. I created the “Giving Board” system, coordinated visuals, and supported donation workflows.

A ten-week, peer-to-peer fundraiser supporting the Street Boutique. This campaign mobilized community members into color-themed giving teams, with messaging centered on bodily autonomy, access, and dignity.

A high-end donor dinner in North County San Diego centered around storytelling, brand ambiance, and major gift cultivation. I led the creative direction and marketing strategy.

Think Dignity's 2024 Gala: Secret Garden

Think Dignity’s 2024 annual gala celebrated nearly two decades of impact. I co-planned the event and produced major creative assets including large-format timeline posters, a full-length event slideshow, dozens of silent auction table signs, and branded visuals for the live auction. I also led volunteer recruitment and day-of direction, coordinated with the AV vendor, auctioneer, and entertainment, and ensured cohesive on-brand messaging throughout the program.

Basic Dignity Coalition (BDC) Relaunch

Reviving a community-led movement for equity, dignity, and systemic change.

In 2025, I played a central role in the relaunch of Think Dignity’s Basic Dignity Coalition (BDC), a community-based advocacy collective focused on uplifting the voices of people experiencing homelessness. I supported the communications strategy, co-led planning efforts, and facilitated the second convening of the BDC, building power through participatory dialogue and collective action.

Why It Matters

The relaunch of the BDC marked a return to grassroots policy organizing rooted in lived expertise. My contributions strengthen the coalition’s presence, clarify its messaging, and reconnect our base of unhoused community members, service providers, and local advocates around urgent issues affecting unhoused individuals. These conversations directly informed the development of Think Dignity's Dignity Mobile Charging advocacy and program focused on equitable access to public charging for communications, mobility, and medical devices.

The Birth of the Basic Dignity Advocacy Fund

In tandem with BDC’s relaunch, I helped conceptualize and launch the Basic Dignity Advocacy Fund (BDAF) — a new donor fund designed to support policy research, community engagement, and strategic advocacy projects. From messaging and design to fundraising materials and social media campaigns, I led the public-facing components that introduced BDAF to our supporters.

I designed promotional graphics, coordinated volunteer outreach, and created messaging that honored the history of the BDC while inviting new voices into the coalition. I also co-developed facilitation materials, agenda content, and communications workflows that supported the relaunch and ongoing meetings.

SDSU: Marketing for Nonprofits

Teaching young leaders to communicate with values and care.

I was invited to deliver a guest lecture in Dr. Kristine Ehrich’s Marketing for Social Impact course at San Diego State University in February 2025. Drawing from my role leading strategic communications for Think Dignity, I spoke with undergraduate business students about how storytelling can serve as a tool for both advocacy and fundraising in mission-driven organizations.

Why It Matters

This lecture served as an opportunity to bridge theory with practice, demonstrating how dignity-centered messaging, community-based strategy, and ethical storytelling can be applied in the real world. By sharing both campaign successes and tensions, I helped students examine how to communicate impact without exploitation, and how to market with integrity.

Beyond the Lecture

Case studies from prior Think Dignity campaigns and communication efforts offered students a grounded look at how nonprofits balance mission, audience, and messaging with limited resources. Several students went on to volunteer with Think Dignity’s Communications Committee, allowing me to continue supporting their growth through mentorship and hands-on project collaboration after the presentation.
