Supporting access, equity, and belonging for undocumented and immigrant students.

The Dreamers Support Office at San Diego Miramar College provides critical services for undocumented students, mixed-status families, refugees, and immigrants navigating higher education. During my time with the Dreamers Office, I led key initiatives to expand student access to resources, develop immigrant-centered programming, and strengthen cross-campus collaboration.

Dreamers Support Intake & Pathway Systems

Centering student agency through equity-driven design and individualized planning.

To ensure undocumented and immigrant students could access personalized support without bureaucratic barriers, I helped develop the Dreamer Profile intake form, Dream Plan resource mapping tool, and the associated backend intake system. These tools prioritize dignity, confidentiality, and student choice—allowing individuals to connect with our office, define their goals, and access targeted services on their own terms.

Key Components

Dreamer Profile: A secure intake form designed to streamline student connection while affirming autonomy, minimizing disclosure burden, and building trust from first contact.

Dream Plan: An individualized action plan co-created with each student, focusing on tangible next steps in areas like academics, career exploration, financial security, and immigration resources.

Intake & Tracking Systems: Custom-built systems using linked spreadsheets and secure internal workflows allowed our small office to manage outreach, monitor engagement trends, and proactively connect students to support—without ever compromising student privacy or agency.

Dreamers Student Guidebook

Designing systems of support for undocumented and immigrant students.

To enhance the onboarding and support experience for undocumented and immigrant students at Miramar College, I developed the Dreamers Student Guidebook—a first-of-its-kind resource designed specifically for the Dreamers Support Office.

The guidebook translates complex immigration policies, enrollment steps, financial aid processes, legal rights, and wellness resources into a clear, accessible format. It empowers students to navigate college systems while building long-term academic and personal success plans.

Creating the Dreamers Guidebook reflects my commitment to equity-centered resource development, accessible communications, and systems innovation. It demonstrates my ability to design strategic tools that directly impact student success, agency, and belonging.

Highlight: From legal aid to leadership pathways, this guidebook centers visibility, access, and empowerment for Dreamers at every stage of their educational journey. The guidebook includes interactive elements like QR codes to videos and relevant applications, residency and career exploration worksheets, and Rest & Reset activities.

Dreamers Center Pitch

Building on student-led advocacy for a dedicated space, I developed a proposal to reimagine and expand the physical footprint of the Dreamers Center at Miramar College. The pitch emphasized the need for accessible, welcoming, and resource-rich environments for undocumented and immigrant students.

Leveraging 3D modeling, campus research, and stakeholder feedback, I created a detailed visual proposal illustrating how thoughtful space design can enhance belonging, service delivery, and program visibility.

Programmatic Development

Building knowledge, community, and empowerment through intentional programming.

Throughout my time with the Dreamers Support Office, I developed and coordinated a range of events designed to meet the evolving needs of undocumented and immigrant students. From Know Your Rights workshops to resource fairs and campus dialogues, each program reflected a commitment to education, advocacy, and belonging.

Flagship engagement programs like Coffee & Crafts—a bi-weekly engagement event open to all—and Undocu-Circles—educational workshop series for undocumented students—helped to foster a campus culture of inclusion that embraced diverse perspectives in a welcoming, low-stakes environment.

To ensure educational and advocacy opportunities were accessible, I developed many virtual workshops, too.

Undocumented Student Action Week

Meaningful allyship and advocacy.

Each year, the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office supports Undocumented Student Action Week (USAW). This annual week of advocacy aims to support and uplift undocumented students through state-wide and local events and workshops.

At Miramar College, I led campus efforts to develop USAW programming, facilitate community partner engagement, and increase awareness of this important initiative among colleagues and students alike.

Institutional Learning

Building systems of knowledge, advocacy, and sustainable support.

Beyond direct student support, I developed staff training and professional development resources aimed at institutionalizing allyship and improving service delivery for undocumented and immigrant students. These tools helped ensure that the Dreamers Support Office’s impact extended beyond our immediate team—creating a broader campus culture of inclusion, knowledge, and proactive advocacy.

Undocu-Ally Training (UAT) Program

Undocu-Ally Training Series: UAT 1, 2 & Special Editions

I developed and refined a multi-session Undocu-Ally Training (UAT) curriculum aimed at increasing faculty and staff capacity to support undocumented and immigrant students. Each module combined legal and policy updates, best practices, and identity-centered education, with an emphasis on practical action.

Special editions, like "Undocumented & Indigenous," addressed the intersectionality of immigration and Indigenous identities, expanding allyship beyond the traditional undocumented narrative.

Micro-Learning Resources

Empowering colleagues with practical, accessible training tools.

To support cross-campus training efforts, I developed several micro-learning resources. Built for faculty and staff use, these fact sheets and mini-decks focused on critical topics affecting undocumented and immigrant students through the lens of various student services departments.

A key feature of the micro-learning resources I created was not only increasing organizational knowledge but increasing visibility and understanding of the systemic challenges undocumented and immigrant student face. These bite-sized modules delivered clear, actionable insights without overwhelming busy practitioners—ensuring equity work was practical, not just aspirational.

AB 540: A streamlined deck developed for the Financial Aid Office to help staff understand how immigration status impacts residency and aid eligibility.

Income Generation: A brief presentation created for the Career Center to assist staff connect students lacking work authorization to income-generating opportunities.

VAWA: This presentation, created for campus Mental Health Services, outlines important information for individuals experiencing violence regardless of status.

Event Tracking Tutorial

Streamlining Event Impact Tracking

I designed and produced a short training video to onboard employees to a custom event attendance recording system. By creating simple, accessible tutorials, I helped standardize data collection practices and improve reporting accuracy for Dreamers programming.

Community Outreach Campaigns

Strategic messaging to connect, inform, and inspire action.

Effective outreach was central to our success in reaching undocumented and mixed-status students, as well as campus cammunity allies. I developed and executed social media campaigns that combined thoughtful messaging, accessible design, and actionable resources.
